SailCentre Sail Care
Free Inspection and Advice
At Sailcentre we will provide an ‘MOT’ for any of your sails - advising you of any work that we would recommend to keep your sails fit for the future.
Washing and Servicing:
- Removing the salt and grime is essential to ensure that durability and performance is not compromised and the growth of mildew is limited.
- SailCentre recommends a wash using Tip Top Sail Laundry, who use their own purpose-developed sail fabric cleaner. All the sails are washed by hand and not by a machine, which can damage the fabric.
- We then service the sails ensuring your season ahead is not spoilt by failing sails.
- Once washed and overhauled, sails can be stored in our heated store.
UV Strips:
- A sail’s worst enemy is sunlight, which can causes the breakdown of the cloth and stitching.
- New sails can lose up to 50% of strength if exposed to too much UV light.
- SailCentre can fit or replace sacrificial strips with UV light resistant fabric to your furling sails, this is essential to ensure your sails longevity.
Repairs and Alterations:
- SailCentre can undertake repairs to your sails - from ripped spinnakers to broken battens - so you can keep sailing.
- We can also alter your sails including luff reductions, leech re-hollowing, fitting leech lines and many more - please just ask!
24 Hour Emergency Turn Around Repair Service:
- SailCentre can offer a 24 hour emergency repair service.
- This service aims to have your sails repaired and back on your boat in within 24 hours where possible.
